Chelmsford Diocese has had Partnership Links with the four Dioceses of Kirinyaga, Embu, Mbeere and Meru in Kenya (Mount Kenya region) since 1978. St Mary’s has had a direct partnership with the Church of the Good Shepherd, Muchunguri, in the Diocese of Mbeere for over five years. Click here to see the Parish from the air.
We recently helped celebrate the opening of the new dispensary at Muchunguri, which will bring medical services close to the local community. There is still much work to do to develop and maintain a working dispensary and gifts from St Mary's have helped equip the new building with supplies. The Dispensary is now treating patients.
For a number of years we have been supporting an orphanage at Makutano caring for boys who have been orphaned by HIV/AIDS and would otherwise be living on the streets. We have helped improve their living and sleeping areas and are delighted to see that the children are now able to go to school. Plans are in hand for a much improved dormitory.
